Dr. Johnny Hutchison
Senior Pastor
Johnny was born in Starkville, Mississippi, but lived in several places while growing up. He graduated from Ouachita Parish High School and Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, LA. He has a Master’s degree from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He served as a Youth Minister in four churches in Louisiana, Mississippi and New York. He came to HDBC as Senior Pastor in 1992. He is married to Jan and they have three daughters and nine grandchildren. Johnny enjoys watching Mississippi State sports, playing pickle ball and traveling with Jan.
Jerry and Armentia Adams
Directors of Missions and Evangelism
Jerry and Armentia grew up in Northeast Arkansas near Light in the same community. They became a couple as teenagers during high school. They got married in May 1965. Jerry served in to the Army October 1966 - 1968. While in the Army he served as a tv cameraman training OCS candidates. After leaving the Army, he was employed at city Water and Light in Jonesboro for 31 years. He took early retirement and felt called to serve in Missions after a mission trip to Botswana in 1997. Armentia held various secretarial positions from 1965-1975. In 1975, she attended ASU and finished with multiple degrees in the education field. After retiring from many years of service in public schools she joined Jerry on staff at HDBC in 2000. They have led mission teams throughout the U.S. and around the world, touching down on five continents. They love cruising in their red Corvette and attending car shows. They also love spending time with their grand nieces and other family members.
Glenda Chamberlain
Office Manager
Glenda grew up in Kennett, Missouri but has lived in Jonesboro her entire adult life. She graduated from Arkansas State University with a degree in graphic design. She joined the HDBC staff in 1995. She and her husband, Don, have two grown sons. She loves cheering for her ASU Red Wolves, spending time on the river or lake with Don and friends, watching soccer, and using her creativity in design graphic art pieces for the church. She also loves animals, especially the canines who are part of her family.
Jason Kramer
Minister of Youth
Jason grew up in a Christian home on a small farm in rural SW Ohio. The church was always a major part of his life growing up. Early in high school while attending summer youth camp Jason recognized his need for a savior and began to follow Jesus. Soon after that experience, he knew that God was calling him into full time ministry. He attended college in SE Kentucky and was heavily involved with BSU ministry. During that time, he met and married Christie and they’ve been married for over 28 years. They have two adult children (Peyton and Kayla) who are following Jesus. Their family has recently grown with the new additions of a daughter-in-law (Lexie) and son-in-law (Brady). Jason has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Cumberlands and a Master of Arts from Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary (IN). Jason has been serving in student ministry for over 25 years as a volunteer, bi-vocationally, or full time in churches in Kentucky, Ohio, Missouri, and now in Arkansas. Jason enjoys sports (especially the Ohio State Buckeyes), the outdoors, and antique steam engines and tractors.
Rick McKinney
Minister of Music and Senior Adults
Rick McKinney is a native of Jonesboro and has been on staff at HDBC since 1995. Rick is a graduate of Jonesboro High School, Arkansas State University, and Mid America Baptist Theological Seminary. Rick played high school and college golf at ASU where he earned a Bachelor of Church Music degree. In his spare time Rick enjoys playing golf with his friends and bowling. Rick and his wife Dana have two adult children.
Ben Neiser
Discipleship Pastor
Ben is originally from Union, MO but moved to Northeast Arkansas in 1994. He has a Bachelor's degree from Arkansas State University and a Master's degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Ben has served in full-time vocational ministry since 2005 in various capacities such as: youth, collegiate, church planting, and pastoral ministry. Ben is married to Lindsey and they have two daughters, Ella and Clara. When he's not in the office, Ben enjoys drinking good coffee at a local coffee shop, going to see a movie, or cheering on his Astate Red Wolves.
Nancy Scarbrough
Nursery Director
Nancy Scarbrough grew up in a suburb southeast of Chicago. She received a bachelor’s degree from Calvin College and a master’s degree from Washington University in Occupational Therapy. She moved to Jonesboro in 1994. She is currently a pediatric occupational therapist at Bloom of Jonesboro, and she has served as HDBC Nursery Director since 2022. Nancy is married to Marty and has 3 grown sons, Ben, Daniel and Nathan and daughter in law Brianna. Nancy enjoys day trips with Marty and cheering on the Chicago Cubs.
Tishia Whipkey
Minister of Children
Tishia was born and raised in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and graduated from Hot Springs High School. She has always loved Jonesboro, and moved here in October of 2014. She came to HDBC shortly thereafter. In January 2020, she felt God calling her into ministry and briefly studied at Leavell College at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. She hopes to resume her seminary education in the future. In February 2022, she was asked to be the interim children's minister and came on staff full-time in June of the same year. Tishia has a son, Tyler, a daughter-in-law, Eve, and two cats, Hannah and Miracle. She enjoys reading, learning, cross stitch, amateur cake decorating, and spending time with friends and family.
